Searching Cases by Name
For Superior Court matters, the direct route is the official Odyssey Smart Search. Type the name in last, first, middle, suffix order. Capitalization does not matter. Run an exact spelling first; if nothing comes back, drop a hyphen or switch on Sounds Like. Set location to Wahkiakum County. A tight filter on date, case type, status, or judicial officer keeps a common name from hitting the 200-result display limit.
- Open Smart Search and choose Wahkiakum County as the location.
- Enter the last and first names as they appear on court papers. Add a middle name or suffix when known.
- Complete the CAPTCHA, then apply case type, status, file-date, or officer filters if results are broad.
- Open the case number and confirm the court, party role, case type, file date, and status.
The official Smart Search display can be seen through the Washington Odyssey source.

The location box and advanced filters matter. A tight, county-specific query in Odyssey beats a broad name search for reliability.

Wahkiakum County Case Search Access
Odyssey covers Wahkiakum County Superior Court. Felony, civil, domestic, probate, and guardianship matters all appear there. Limited-jurisdiction courts do not. For District Court or Cathlamet municipal service, use Find My Court Date. You can also use the limited-jurisdiction system. The Odyssey access landing page lays out the split. It covers anonymous public use and registered access.

That split has real consequences. An anonymous Wahkiakum County case search may show events and metadata while leaving filed documents unavailable.
Portal limit: Registration can expand eligible document access, but it does not override a seal, confidentiality rule, or court order.
Searching by Case Number
A case number is the strongest search key. Enter it in Odyssey's record-number box for Superior Court. Washington's older standard format runs nine digits, with or without dashes. Pre-JIS and nonstandard matters can stray from it. One common format is YY-2-00001-35. The digits carry year, case category, sequence, and court coding. Use the number printed on your notice or pleading rather than reconstructing it.
Case-number searching also cuts down mistaken identity. Once a result opens, check the location, title, file date, and case type. A federal or Court of Appeals number will not resolve here. It will not show up as a Wahkiakum County trial case. Federal matters belong in PACER, and a Superior Court appeal creates its own appellate record.
Keep all leading zeroes. Try both dashed and undashed forms if an official search rejects an older number.
Wahkiakum County Case Search Date Fields
Odyssey's date filter is a file-date range. It never asks for the next hearing date. Remember that when a search comes back empty. A case filed years ago can have a hearing this month, and a brand-new filing may have no setting at all. For a Superior Court setting date, use Hearing Search instead.
Result screens label file dates, event dates, disposition dates, and hearing dates separately. Copy each label with its value. The newest date is not your next court date. An event date alone does not show when a judge ruled. Narrowing by file date trims a long name result, but drop the filter if the filing year is unknown.
Wahkiakum County District Case Search
Wahkiakum County District Court takes misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, traffic citations, infractions, small claims, civil complaints, name changes, anti-harassment orders, and fish and wildlife matters. Cathlamet Municipal Court has no separate public search route in the state directory. Its cases go through District Court. Select WAHKIAKUM DISTRICT COURT in Find My Court Date. Enter the names on the court paper and complete the CAPTCHA.
The state put Wahkiakum County District Court in the June 2026 CLJ-CMS rollout group. That migration affects re:SearchWA. Its coverage may depend on record type and status. An empty result proves very little. A case can still exist in the clerk's file. Call District Court at 360-795-3461 or ask at the counter when a recent, older, or municipal-service matter stays hidden.
What a Case Search Returns
An Odyssey result opens with summary fields. Below that, it separates parties, disposition events, events, and hearings. Read the label attached to each date. A file date marks the start of the case, an event date marks a docket action, and a hearing date marks a setting. A motion is only a request. An order is the ruling, and a charge or claim is not a final outcome.
| Case Number | The unique identifier and best key for later searches |
|---|---|
| File Date and Type | When the case began and its category |
| Location and Status | The court and current listed state |
| Parties | Public roles, names, and counsel details where allowed |
| Events | Dated filings, orders, hearing text, and status entries |
| Hearings | Date, time, type, courtroom, officer, and status |
| Disposition Events | Judgment or outcome events entered in the case |
A public event can appear with no link. That usually means the Wahkiakum County court record must come from the clerk, not that the filing never happened. The court records process covers plain, certified, exhibit, and audio copies.
Wahkiakum County Case Search Limits
Odyssey stops at the first 200 matching results. That cap matters. Set Wahkiakum County as the location. Narrow the file-date span, and layer on case type or status before you trust a null result. Wildcard rules shift between the official Odyssey materials for anonymous users. Start with a tight exact name, and test the live form. One more quirk: Sounds Like will not run alongside a wildcard search.
The older Classic Search Case Records has gaps of its own. It can lag behind real court activity. It also leaves out some sealed, restricted, pre-JIS, nonstandard, and older matters. Juvenile dependency, mental-health, adoption, and paternity categories may also be missing from the old Superior name search. If a Wahkiakum County case does not appear, write down the spelling and filters you used. Try the other system. Then call the Superior Court Clerk at 360-795-3558 or District Court at 360-795-3461.
Wahkiakum County Case Search JIS-Link
JIS-Link is Washington's account-based pipeline. It reaches District, municipal, and Superior Court case information and docket transactions. Each transaction runs $0.145. The state court-code list tags Wahkiakum District Court as WMD. It also notes the court's JIS conversion on March 17, 1997. A June 1, 2026 Enterprise Justice date appears there too.
This paid route works for statewide case search. Yet it does not hand over case documents. Want a copy or a certified court record? The originating Clerk or District Court is still the place to get it. And paying for an account unlocks nothing sealed, confidential, or restricted.
Statewide vs County Case Search
Washington stacks several official layers. No single tool serves every Wahkiakum County court or type of access. Odyssey is the best first stop for Superior Court metadata. Find My Court Date aims at District and municipal calendars. Classic Search Case Records gives a broad statewide summary. JIS-Link, by contrast, is a paid account service built for docket transactions, not documents. The classic Washington Search Case Records source itself spells out its key limits. Its coverage and accuracy terms are stated there.

Take that warning seriously. A statewide summary is only a first read, and the record held by the Wahkiakum County court is what counts.
| Official System | Best Use | Main Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Odyssey | Superior case and hearing data | Anonymous document access is limited |
| Find My Court Date | District and municipal-service dates | Not the full case file |
| re:SearchWA | Limited-jurisdiction public access | Coverage may vary in transition |
| Classic Search | Broad statewide summary | May lag and excludes case groups |
| JIS-Link | Paid case information | Account fee and no documents |
Wahkiakum County Case Search Fallbacks
The portals are just one channel. The Wahkiakum County Superior Court Clerk serves walk-ins at 64 Main Street in Cathlamet. Mail goes to PO Box 157, Cathlamet, WA 98612. The phone number is 360-795-3558. District Court sits at the same street address, with PO Box 144 and 360-795-3461. Ask which court owns the matter. Find out whether staff-assisted or terminal access exists, and how to get a public document.
Mail, fax, and email steps vary with the request or form. Remember that a search inquiry is not a filing. The county NextRequest portal handles administrative-record requests and Clerk-directed copy requests. Case access still follows court rules, though. JIS-Link is the paid state fallback, and PACER sits apart for federal cases. When a system fails you, try the other proper tool. Call the court before assuming the record is absent.
Wahkiakum County Case Search Federal Boundary
Federal cases live outside the county toolbox. A Wahkiakum County case search in Odyssey, Find My Court Date, or re:SearchWA will not surface federal litigation. Federal trial matters from the county belong to the Western District of Washington. The Tacoma Division is the venue route. Those dockets and filed documents run through PACER, not a county court portal.
An appeal shifts things too. A Wahkiakum Superior Court appeal can open a separate docket in Washington Court of Appeals, Division II. The county register may show a notice of appeal. But the appellate court keeps the briefs, orders, opinions, and the mandate. Match the trial case number to the new appellate number. One search screen will not hold both files.
Access and Restricted Cases
Washington General Rule 31 keeps court records open by default unless a law, court rule, court order, or case law says otherwise. Open does not mean easy. A record can still be offline, redacted, or behind a fee. General Rule 15 governs sealing and redaction. So a docket may show that an event happened. The paper itself stays sealed.
Family and guardianship files often hold confidential forms, financial data, child information, and protected addresses under General Rule 22. Juvenile records carry their own limits. Registering an account does not cure this. A party or authorized attorney may see more than the public can, and the Wahkiakum County Clerk makes the access call under the rules and case orders.
Wahkiakum County Case Search Verification
Good notes make a case search verifiable. Record the system, the search time, the county filter, the exact case number, the displayed title, the file date, the event date, and the status. Keep event text separate from any linked document. That habit stops a filing, allegation, charge, or scheduled hearing from being read as a final judgment.
When a result matters: Confirm the newest setting or outcome with the Wahkiakum County Clerk or District Court. Obtain a certified copy when an official record is required.
Classic Search Case Records is upfront about its limits. It is not the official record. It is not the complete one either. It is also not a Washington State Patrol criminal-history search. Use Wahkiakum County case search tools to understand a public court matter. Then go to the originating clerk for the official file.
